Within the framework of the STDF and Clima-LoCa projects, the theoretical-practical workshop of Good Laboratory Practices and Quality Control was held. The workshop had several sessions distributed between Bogotá in Colombia, Guayaquil and Quito in Ecuador, during the first week of November.

Regarding participation, it was quite active considering the number of attendees. Bogota had the largest participation since, attended by about 30 people belonging to the laboratories of IGAP, Agrosavia, Agrilab, Biotrends, among others. For the workshops in Guayaquil and Quito were registered approximately 10 people being a total of 20 between both cities. Guayaquil had the assistance of laboratories such as Grupo Quimico Marcos, Agrorum, INIAP; while in Quito the attendees were Cilab, Arcsa and Universidad de San Francisco.

The workshops were designed to obtain learning based on good laboratory practices and quality control from the participating laboratories of the Clima-LoCa and STDF projects. As a result, these learnings are expected to contribute to reducing the probability of error in obtaining results.

In this order of ideas, the workshops were structured in a theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part, approach was performed with respect to quality control parameters, calculations for the determination of oxidizing agents necessary for obtaining complete oxidation, calibration curve, while in the practical part the focus was checks of balances and pipettes.

As a result, the participants mainly highlighted the learning obtained during the calculation procedure of the determination of oxidizing agents and the cleaning of pipettes.
